PROJECTS FUNDING NEEDS

The Solar Training House -One of MCTC programs is the Home Repair Program, which provides training and skills for youth with learning disabilities in Detroit. These young people are often left out of training programs, which can impact their self-confidence and ability to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. To address this issue, the organization is seeking support for Geothermal installation in a 1144 sq ft home that they purchased from the Detroit Landbank.

The goal is to use this home as a training house for youth and adults to gain skills in renewable energy and gain employment in this growing industry. The organization plans to work with youth this summer to repair the inside and outside of the home, making it a valuable resource for the community.

By supporting the solar training house, we can provide valuable job training and employment opportunities for youth with disabilities in the growing industry of solar power installation. This can help to address issues of inequality and create more inclusive communities by providing pathways to meaningful employment for young people with disabilities.

The solar training house can serve as a valuable resource for youth with disabilities who are interested in pursuing careers in solar installation. By providing hands-on training and practical experience, the training house can help to equip these young people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this field.

Moreover, the growing demand for renewable energy sources means that there is a need for skilled workers who can install and maintain solar panels and related equipment. By providing job placements for youth with disabilities in this field, we can help to address youth unemployment while also promoting the development of sustainable energy solutions.

7 Mile House – 5000 E. 7 Mile Rd
The 7 Mile House will serve as a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home for young men transitioning out of foster care, giving them a safe, stable place to live while they build the skills needed for adulthood.

The building will also include:

  • Mental Health Office – Providing counseling and emotional support for both the residents and the surrounding community, fostering wellness, stability, and resilience.

  • Community Resource Office – Connecting individuals to job opportunities, housing assistance, financial literacy programs, and other vital services.

By combining housing, mental health care, and community resources in one location, the 7 Mile House will help young men gain independence while serving as a hub of support and empowerment for the entire neighborhood.
